The recent silver E609 doesn't sound like the all black earlier E609. The never ones have a brighter top and seem to have a bit of mid scoop. I use the E609 (black) on 4x12 cabs a lot. in general there is a 421 a 57 and the black E609. all close mic'd. The E609 wins on chuging stuff most of the time.e 906. The e906 has a few dB more sensitivity, and putting the switch in the "flat" setting actually gets that mic pretty close to being flat.
