Subaru crosstrek making noise when off.

Went out last night and this noise was coming from the rear end underneath (turn up the volume). I started the car, drove it around the block and pulled back in, shut off and noise was gone. I will say I'm at the bottom of the tank probably only 1/2 gallon left. Low fuel light as been on for 44 miles.
