This season I've gotten 2 drops in about 5 total hours (probably ~20 runs). Possibly just bad RNG but it definitely seems like lower RNG this season.

The Lost Sector was designated to drop Helmets. We just got lucky like you. You can run them in a fireteam but exotics only drop on solo clears. You can get exotics, but they will not be that days slot specific nor does it have bad luck protection. To get slot specific and get guaranteed new items you have to run solo.
