Use self buffs, get 4 elements on your weapon (three with arcana), and grab Elemental Barrage. That's the basic way magus works right now. Str builds is more damage, while Dex builds can go into high AC tanks easier. Magus is not a novice-friendly class. If you just need 2-handed weapons with some casting abilities, Fighter+Wizard or Fighter+Sorcerer would be easier to handle.
