It's exposed, but what you'll need to do is build a wall around the parking lot/surrounding grass area out front. Build a gate facing the road to the east (towards the grocery store), so you have access to the road.

A significant portion of the path leading to the base is dirt, which means trees will grow and seriously hamper your ability to drive without constantly stopping to cut them down.The journey there is difficult and looting is another as the place is as infested as mall. Imagine clearing the place out slowly just to find little amount of ammos and weapons. I doubt M16 even spawn there. The loot chances there should be increase as the place itself is difficult to secure. Some other maps with custom tilesets are Midriver and Overlook. Camp Hill (by the same author as those two) is also a great military base custom map, but I don't think it uses a custom tileset at all. Similarly, another awesome military base is Valley Station Military Outpost, but again no custom items in this one as far as I'm aware.
Its supposed to be a military housing town for Fort Knox, the military base. It's not in the game yet but it's planned, I think. In the middle of the town there's a Community Center with the largest library in KY. Two floors, several rows of bookcases. Totally not worth it! Hardly anything there. I lucked out though and when I went to clear it, it was almost entirely empty of zeds because we had recently cleared the nearby prison and I think the game redistributed the population around the cells, because it seemed odd to only see 5 or 6 zeds in total there.
