So, it should have a Mod. 15-? stamp inside the yoke in front of the cylinder. If it is a CM, it will have either a 2" or 4" barrel with adjustable rear sight and ramped front sight. Jul 24, 2011 · It is chambered for the .38 S&W Round, and has a 3 3/16" barrel. The only serial number I can find is on the bottom of the grip but of the revolver. The number has only four digits, 36xx. The revolver is in very good mechanical condition with a clean up-pitted barrel. It locks up tight and appears to work well in both DA and SA modes. The serial number on the bottom of the butt is 6 digits and is 2515XX (the x's of course being substitutes for the numbers upon this forum's advice in a sticky). Serial numbers in and around the chamber also match. End of barrel to face of chamber is 4". Left side of barrel reads 38 S. & W. CTG.I would love to know when it was made (when I bought my used Browning Hi-Power I used Browning website/serial number and got it's build date easily) but couldn't find same on S&W official website. Anyway, its Stainless Steel, 4" barrel and has '38 S&W. SPECIAL CTG. stamped on right side of barrel, walnut grips and is in great shape.
