The State Patrol has identified the man as 62-year-old Darrell Getty of Elyria. According to the State Patrol, Getty was traveling eastbound on State Route 113 on his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Getty was in the left lane when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and was ejected.
According to the State Patrol a 2011 Ford Escape being driven by Dale Thompson of Elyria, Ohio, was eastbound on Cleveland Road. Thompson came to a complete stop in the roadway due to traffic stopping in front of him. A 2005 Harley Davidson being driven by Carl Webb also of Elyria, was eastbound on Cleveland Road behind Thompson.The shooting incident on Park Meadow Lane which preceded the incident at Marathon gas station, is being investigated by the Elyria Police Department. The Elyria Police contacted the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office and the Lorain Police Department to conduct the officer involved shooting investigation.
