Glenfield 30a vs marlin 336.

I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay! Now it looks like a 336sc (sporting carbine). Mechanically identical to the Model 336, these rifles were sold under the names Glenfield, Glenfield Marlin or Marlin as Models 30, 30A, 30AS and 30AW. The Model 30AW package includes a gold-plated steel trigger, 3-9x32 factory-mounted scope, padded sling and offset hammer spur. It is identical to the current Marlin Model 336W. Description: Mint condition 1980 Glenfield 30A, built by Marlin. This pre-safety safe queen was owned by a pastor in the mid west. Shows no sign of use. Comes with an equally mint Weaver 4X scope and mounts. This rifle may be to pretty to shoot. Most of you know that Glenfield was the lower priced Marlin, but this beauty can stand up to any 336! it's a marlin glenfield mod. 30A. that along with the {JM} are marked on the left side of the barrel. it's a 30-30 win cal. My serial number is behind the hammer right where the stock joins the gun. serial # 191797** there are no other markings on the rifle Also reading these posts, there are no markings on, near, around, or underneath the leverGeensled, The only difference in the 30AS and the 336 is the wood and the sights. The 30AS has a birch stock, carbine style front sight, and I believe a stamped sheetmeatal style rear with the sliding elevator. The 336 has black walnut for stocks, adjustable semi buck horn rear sight, and a hooded bead sight on a ramp for a front.

Jan 7, 2021 · Hello, this is my JM stamped Glenfield 30A which is basically a Marlin 336 but with a cheaper stock and its in great condition. By my research it was made in 1973 based on the serial number. There is still plenty of rifling left so it hasn't been used that much. It comes with a Japanese made scope that is Glenfield branded and is very clear. I know they marked the barrels “AS”starting in 1988 when the safety was added but I am not sure exactly when the roll mark on the barrel went back to “A”.Feb 20, 2019 · That's a beautiful 1976 Glenfield. You better buy it before I can. I'd love to find one. It's basically a Marlin 336 with birch stocks instead of walnut. Nov 9, 2018 · I would first make sure the two larger screws are correct in receiver. The one on the side and forward bottom, same diameter, head, different lengths. Oct 2, 2022 · The Glenfield 30A was produced from around 1971/1972 to about 1981/1982 when it became the Marlin Mod 30AS. They are a quality Marlin made under the Glenfield name. They have the hardwood stocks, end cap and one barrel band, dovetailed front sight, and a non-folding rear sight---the rest of the rifle is pretty much the same as the Mod 336.
