The UK line is the best dd line overall. Fairly easy to play, every ship is strong, versatile, resilient to cvs, just great stuff. And the on top of that, imo Cossack is the best T8 dd if you ever want to pick up a Brit prem dd. Z52, the mainline german dd, is also good, has a strong 6km hydro that can detect other dds in smokes, and torps, so its good at cap contesting. For a beginner dd line tho, I recommend the daring line for the british.
