No att is not discontinuing email addresses of any kind. But they did try to separate the att legacy accounts (e.g. sbcglobal.net, pacbell.net, bellsouth.net, etc., i.e., any att account other than ending with att.net) from yahoo. That has lead to account problems with legacy account users trying to access their email.
